Garamer® has 3 kinds of finishes for wooden garage cabinets. This passage is to introduce you to one of them – powder-coated finish wooden garage cabinets. From the very beginning, we need to know what is Powder Coating.
What is powder coating?
Powder coating is an innovative and advanced dry-finishing technique that employs a specially formulated mixture of pigments and resins. This mixture is subjected to an electrostatic charge, which enables it to be evenly applied to the surface of the component. Subsequently, the coated item is placed in an oven where the powder undergoes a curing process, resulting in the formation of a seamless and attractive surface that boasts exceptional durability. It is worth mentioning that powder coating is a highly environmentally friendly process as it does not contain any heavy metals, solvents, or volatile organic compounds.

What benefits do powder-coated wooden garage cabinets have?
The utilization of powder coating technology significantly reduces the potential for environmental pollution, fire hazards, and health hazards associated with the use of organic solvents. This is achieved through the exclusion of organic solvents from the process.
One of the defining characteristics of powder coated doors is their high degree of recyclability and utilization. In fact, the utilization rate of powder coating can reach as high as 99%, making it a highly effective and sustainable option.
Features of Powder Coated Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF)
Environmentally Friendly: The electrostatically powder coated door panel utilizes low-temperature electrostatic powder coating technology which eliminates the need for solvents. The electrostatic adsorption process results in a solid-state coating that is free from VOCs, formaldehyde, and heavy metals, making it a green and environmentally friendly solution. Additionally, through the infrared curing process, any free formaldehyde within the board is completely evaporated.
Moisture and Mold Resistance: The 100% solid powder coating forms a 360° closed coating that effectively blocks water and prevents the intrusion of moisture, providing excellent moisture release and anti-corrosion capabilities.
Durable and Anti-Aging: Powder coating has a higher degree of chemical resistance and durability compared to traditional liquid coatings, providing long-lasting protection against aging and yellowing.
Aesthetic Surface Effects: The powder coating offers a frosted matte texture with a delicate and smooth touch, adding a special touch to the surface of the MDF.
Stain and Scratch Resistance: The high-quality powder coating has a strong adhesion and is several times thicker than traditional solvent or water-soluble coatings, providing excellent protection against scratches, water, and dirt while also being easy to clean.
Non-Toxic and Odorless: The non-toxic and odorless resin powder used in the curing process seals the MDF and eliminates harmful substances, resulting in a truly environmentally friendly and healthy solution that can be immediately occupied after installation.
